Day 7
SPIRITUAL WARFARE
We are now 7 days into our journey of prayer. In our times of Scripture reading and in our strategic prayers we have been asking God to break the grip that Satan has on people we know. Because we read about it in God’s Word, we can be sure that as we pray asking God to move, there is an enemy hard at work to thwart His plans. You might have been experiencing some spiritual attack yourself: lack of motivation to pray, forgetting to pray each day and throughout the day, maybe even temptations to sin which pull you further from God which can make you feel inadequate to come before God’s thrown in prayer.
But be encouraged, the writer of Hebrews tells us that because of Jesus and what He did on our behalf, we can approach God’s thrown confidently, and when we do we will receive mercy and find grace to help us when we need it. We are in a spiritual battle, yet God is our strength and He gave us a full suit of armor to wear as we face the enemy.
So be strong and courageous! Keep praying, asking God to do His work in the lives of those you are praying for. And remember that Satan is one of God’s created beings, only God is God! And all authority on heaven and on earth belongs to Him and Him alone!
Hebrews 4:14-16
“Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens — Jesus the Son of God — let us hold fast to the confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tested in every way as we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us at the proper time.”
Ephesians 6: 10-13,18
“Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by His vast strength. Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the tactics of the Devil. For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens. This is why you must take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand…Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert in this with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints.”
2 Corinthians 10:3-5
“For though we live in the body, we do not wage war in an unspiritual way, since the weapons of our warfare are not worldly, but are powerful through God for the demolition of strongholds. We demolish arguments and every high-minded thing that is raised up against the knowledge of God, taking every thought captive to obey Christ.”
